Biodesign in Transition – Exploring the Edges of Ecology, Technology, and Intelligence

We are proud to announce that Ephea® will be part of the Next Nature Conference 2025, held on October 24th during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven (NL) — a global gathering of visionary minds reimagining the future of life, design, and innovation.

This year’s theme, “Biodesign in Transition”, explores the evolving relationship between ecology, technology, and intelligence, and asks us to reflect on how we can move beyond traditional paradigms towards regenerative, life-centered futures.

We are especially honored to be represented through the voice, expertise, and deep passion of Maurizio Montalti — co-founder and Chief Mycelium Officer of SQIM. A true pioneer in the field of mycelium-based materials and biodesign, Maurizio will contribute to the conference with a presentation and will join a panel discussion, sparking meaningful dialogues and reflections.

On stage, Maurizio will bring to life the vision and impact of Ephea® and Mogu® SQIM’s pioneering brands in fashion and interior design — standing as tangible proofs that a new industrial paradigm is not only possible, but already in motion. A paradigm where humans and Nature co-create, giving rise to everyday products shaped by biofabrication, intention, and a shared future.

The conference will take place at Evoluonan iconic architectural landmark where past and future converge. Once a symbol of technological optimism, it now hosts the Next Nature Museum, a space where humans, nature, and technology meet, question, and co-create new narratives for our collective tomorrow.

We are honorued to contribute to this bold and essential conversation — one that values design as a living, evolving process of becoming.
