Maurizio Montalti, co-founder and CMO of SQIM, will bring his passion, insight, and experience to the Fungi Economy Day, as part of the Vienna Pilzfestspiele 2025 program. This unique festival not only celebrates the extraordinary biodiversity of the fungal kingdom but also highlights the remarkable capabilities of fungi and their power to inspire new, regenerative visions for our shared future.
On October 9, Maurizio will take the stage with his keynote talk, The Natural Alchemy of Becoming. His lecture invites us on a journey through design, production, and regenerative approaches shaped by collaboration with fungi. It is a call to reconnect with Nature — not as a resource to be exploited, but as a partner and teacher, guiding us toward cooperation, transformation, and deeper interconnection.
At a time when separation and fragmentation define much of our world, Maurizio’s keynote aims to create space for inspiration and co-creation. He invites us to reconsider growth, moving beyond ideas of accumulation to embrace transformation—an ongoing process attuned to the rhythms of all living beings.
Within the living body of mycelium lies the potential for profound change: a living material that connects, transforms, and heals. It offers us the chance for trans-species cooperation and the rise of a regenerative material culture — one that nourishes both people and planet.
This is the spirit of the Pilzfestspiele: a space where science, art, design, and community converge to honour the mystery and intelligence of the fungal world. We are proud to contribute to this celebration—and warmly invite you to join us.
See you in Vienna!
