2026 opens for Ephea with a collaboration of particular significance.
A dialogue with Future Fashion Concepts, grounded in a shared vision and driven by a pressing need within the chaotic functioning of contemporary fashion system.

A gap still holding.
Between material innovation, systems’ thinking, and responsible communication. A gap that is not only about what is produced and how, but about how knowledge is taught, understood, and passed on to the next generation of designers.

Future Fashion Concepts was founded to address this exact fracture. Education is at the center — not as theory, but as practice. Critical. Grounded. Real.

For Ephea, this collaboration is a natural extension of our commitment. The future of fashion cannot be designed without material literacy. To know a material is not to describe it, but to understand how it behaves, to know its grammar. Its limits. Its potential. Its consequences. Its richness. It requires direct engagement, without mediation.

The shift from education to practice is essential.
Access to materials — touching them, manipulating them, testing them — turns innovation from abstraction into something tangible. Responsibility emerges through making, the hand guiding the thinking process, driven by thoughtful intuition. When material choices carry weight. When design confronts production constraints, finite resources, and complex systems.

Future Fashion Concepts creates the conditions for this kind of learning. Through direct exchange with material innovators and purpose-driven organizations shaping new production paradigms, students operate within an alternative ecosystem. Experimentation becomes renewed awareness. Research turns into agency. It is not about following trends, but about shaping long-term thinking, ignited by fresh creativity, driven by responsibility.

Working with the next generation is central. Not because they automatically represent the future, but because the future belongs to them. To us all. At the same time, responsibility cannot be outsourced. It is shared. It requires access, support, and trust. Education is not about persuasion. It is about enabling informed choices.

Founded by Annette Felder and Daniela Felder, Future Fashion Concepts is a Registered 501(c)(3) Educational Nonprofit operating at the intersection of design, material innovation, and responsible business. As an affiliated member of the United Nations Fashion and Lifestyle Network, FFC develops structured programs that translate emerging sustainability initiatives into applied learning, industry dialogue, and measurable educational impact. Through curated partnerships, institutional collaborations, and cross-sector convenings, the organization builds the conditions for systemic change — equipping the next generation of designers and decision-makers to engage critically, creatively, and commercially with a shifting fashion landscape.

This collaboration is not a statement of intent.
It is a concrete act of gentle revolution

An invitation to reconsider materials, design, and education as cultural tools — shaping not only collections and systems, but our relationship with the Planet, and any entity, living and non-living, human and non-human, alike.

Ephea at “Funga – A Hidden World”

At the Naturmuseum Südtirol in Bozen, fungi take center stage. “Funga – A Hidden World” is not simply an exhibition. It is an immersion. A total environment. A manifesto in mycelium. Look up. A chandelier-like constellation of petri dishes glows overhead, each one cultivating fungal life. Science becomes scenography. Biology becomes light. Here, everything is […]
